Employee of the Month
Brian Johnston, Training Manager
Every month Enquire recognizes an employee for their outstanding contribution to the organization. The Employee of the Month program identifies an individual who achieves excellence in their field and goes above and beyond as an employee. This employee is selected by their peers and management via a survey that is sent out throughout the company.
Please help us congratulate Enquire’s February Employee of the Month, Brian Johnston, Training Manager.
Q: Please give a brief background (where you’re from, what your hobbies are, etc.)
Brian: I was born in Savannah, GA but both of my parents were from Caňon City, CO and moved back when I was only about 3; Since then I’ve spent my whole life in the South-Denver area. I found out when I was in middle school that I had a natural inclination to work with seniors, and when I got older I realized I wanted to help seniors and their families. Enquire gave me the perfect opportunity to combine that passion with my own talents for working with people in general. In my free-time I love camping, fly fishing and working on my computer at home.
Q: Before Enquire, what did you do for a living/where did you work?
Brian: Before Enquire, my background was in retail sales. I got my degree in graphic design and had plans to be a self-employed free-lance designer, but I soon found out that I really miss the regular interactions with customers that more traditional sales roles provide. Before Enquire I was selling Merrell hiking boots for Wolverine World Wide; Selling shoes wasn’t glamourous, but I learned quite a few interesting things, and I’ve always been a big fan of the product, which is one of the most important things to me when it comes to my work.
Q: How long have you been working with Enquire?
Brian: This fall I will finish my third year with Enquire!
Q: Can you describe your role at Enquire?
Brian: As the Training Manager, I would describe my role as being a resource for Community Advisors, an extension of the Team Leadership, and a contributor to discussions and decisions on how to better improve the quality and efficiency of call center operations for our clients.
Q: How has Enquire helped you in your career development?
Brian: As a company growing as quickly as it is, Enquire has provided me an amazingly unique opportunity to develop new skills and strategies as a salesperson and customer service representative, but most importantly I would say that my role as a training manager has helped me develop a new perspective on ensuring quality from a management stand point. It really has been a once in a lifetime experience for me.
Q: What has been your favorite project at Enquire so far?
Brian: Developing the quality assurance and training procedures for the call center has been a great experience; It’s allowed me to contribute my own first-hand customer service knowledge, while also learning more about office management, and maintaining healthy growth in a rapidly expanding business. My second favorite project was helping the team cover Brandon Ensign’s (Vice President of Operations) desk with copies of his employee photo while he was out of town.
Q: What is your favorite part about working for Enquire?
Brian: I love the culture of Enquire in so many ways! Not only do I get to make sure that families in a time of need are getting the highest quality of service and empathy from our team, but the team itself is so strongly unified in our mission to help families out, that it really makes the office a one of a kind work environment, not matter what the day brings.
Q: If you could do another job for just one day, what would it be?
Brian: I’ve always thought it would be awesome to be a professional race car driver, but I don’t know if I would be ok doing that for just one day.
Q: If you could have one superpower, which would you choose?
Brian: I would love to be able to instantly teleport to any place on earth that I could visualize in my mind; Being able to travel for free around the globe without jet lag would be great, but so would removing the morning traffic from my routine--that would be the real kicker!
Q: Tell us something that might surprise us about you.
Brian: I’ve got double jointed thumbs! This is a really special surprise if you’ve never met anyone with double jointed thumbs before.
